Recently found out that I have one of my photographs from Millennium photo library published. I had to giggle as the photo was originally taken about my family and looking out of my parents bedroom window – retracing childhood memories. However, I was totally surprised that it has been used to illustrate something much more serious as world issues go…

From a series called, “Transition” The Future Generation
Just entered some portraits for the British Journal of Photography ‘Portrait of Britain 2017 Competition. This image of Tom is from a series of portraits about my son’s friends and their transition to adulthood. These are portraits of the future generation – They represent our hopes and aspirations. As parents we watch and learn from our children and how they have been effected by the current political decision making in the UK.
Selected for Retina International Photography Festival
I am thrilled that I have been selected to exhibit at the Retina International Photography Festival in Edinburgh this July 2017.
A personal documentary photography project about Artistic Roller Skaters.
Debby Besford captures the dedication these young artistic skaters show for their sport and stand in glory in their home environments. Roller skating demands similar technical elements to ice skating; this Photo Essay captures a highly skillful yet forgotten sport.
This is an ongoing project.

Photography News!! May 2017
Superstar, Las Vegas, USA. Work in Prestigious Show.
Just sold one of my archival prints at The Compton Gallery. Curated by Laura Long, Fine Artist. Very excited to be part of the show. This exhibition brings new and exciting young artists’ work to a wider audience, whilst showcasing the work of established artists. With there being a wealth of artistic talent on the doorstep, Laura Long Contemporary also offers artists from Gloucestershire, Norwich and London the opportunities to establish a reputation beyond their locale. Running till May 26th 2017.
Portrait of Georgie
Photographing my niece was such a special moment last summer. We both had so much fun together. I took some photographs of her in between much laughter and her incredible boundless energy. This portrait is Georgie looking at herself in a mirror – curious and silent. A wonderful and precious girl with a beautiful spirit.
“The Quintessential Grooming Guide for the Adventurous Gentleman”.
I have been invited to contribute a series of photographs on a traditional barber and his shop as part of a book on barbers across the globe. Captain Fawcett’s Emporium is behind this fabulous book idea, http://www.captainfawcett.com/
Looking forward to seeing the final edit and once it’s published meet the other photographers and writers at the book launch. Keep you posted…
‘Transition’ Portrait Project
I am working on a series of portraits about the transitional stages teenagers experience with their identity and how their gaze suggests a detachment from the world around them.
LensCulture Magnum Photography Selection 2016
A great boost from an international photography competition I entered this summer.
‘Your submission was among the top-rated entries in the Magnum Photography Awards 2016. This is an impressive accomplishment given the record number of submissions we received. So, we’ve upgraded your LensCulture account to a Portfolio Account which means you can now upload an unlimited number of photo projects, link to your photo books and add more to your profile info. Portfolio Accounts are free to photographers we invite, forever. It’s also free to publish new work — all of which our editors will see and our global audience can appreciate.’

Trudy, 100 years old, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Healer.
Trudy Raven was my neighbour for 5 years and I have always been amazed by her energy and strength to live such a long and happy life. Her hair is still naturally brown, she gardens each day, grows vegetables and lives next door to her son Jimmy and his wife. She has twelve great grandchildren who keep her active. Her mind is sharp as a button and she has just celebrated her birthday of 100 years on this planet. It is an honour to know her.
Portrait of Abe
I am working on a series of portraits exploring the dreaminess of teenagers. My son is the start of a body of work that will take shape in the coming months. Watch this space…
